Heavenly line

August 31, 2010

Here’s my response to Three Word Wednesday’s prompt to make a poem including the words abstain, halo, and prayer.

Heavenly line

Crouched in prayer
layered in vestments
designed to draw
the form devoid
of intimate curves
the eyes
(to abstain)
still follow
a line
from daubed human halo

and continue

to
trace
(from action)
the body bulge
to
languid
leg

in gentle repose.
